This Thing Called ... Prayer

I have decided to believe in the power of prayer. For awhile I really struggled with the concept of prayer and whether God really cares about all the things I pray about - things in my daily life that, let's face it, are pretty insignificant in the whole scheme of things but matter to me right now. I mean, God's going to go by His master plan anyway, right? And if we are asking for something that is against His master plan, our prayers will not get us anywhere.

Well, stories of Abraham and others lead me to believe that maybe God does change His mind sometimes based on our prayers. God wanted to destroy everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah, but was convinced to spare Lot and his family. So, maybe my prayers do matter.

Even if there is no way to know for sure, I choose to believe. So, I will continue to pray about everyday things, for my marriage and my children and my life in general. These roles as parent, wife, friend, etc. are too important to leave to my own devices. I need help. And I choose to have faith that God cares and will help. I choose to believe in the power of prayer.
